• The Formation of Amaik: Strength and Inclusion

In the heart of Vietnam, along the coastline of the South China Sea, lies the land of the Champa people. This Indigenous community, known for its rich culture and history, is distinguished by its matriarchal and matrilineal traditions. In the Champa language, "Amaik" is a revered prefix meaning ‘mother,’ ‘motherland,’ or ‘matriarchy.’ In Champa society, mothers are honoured as the heads of households, symbolising strength, unity, and resilience.

Tara Newen, a woman of Cham ancestry, was deeply influenced by these traditions. Growing up, she was imbued with the values of her ancestors, particularly the reverence for the mother’s role in society. Through her mother’s lineage, Tara embraced the wisdom and strength passed down through generations of Cham women.

Inspired by her heritage, Tara dreamed of creating a business that embodied the essence of her ancestors’ matriarchal culture and celebrated the strength of women in every aspect of life. This dream took shape in the form of Amaik, a business consultancy firm named to honour the powerful legacy of Cham women.
Amaik is not just a business for Tara; it is a movement. She envisioned a consultancy firm that would not only provide expert business services but also drive social impact. Amaik's mission was to foster diversity, inclusion, gender equality, and environmental sustainability in the corporate world. Tara believed that true business success could only be achieved when these core values were at the forefront.

From the beginning, Amaik set itself apart by integrating the principles of matriarchy into its operations. Tara built a team that valued collaboration, empathy, and empowerment. The consultancy offered tailored services that helped organisations create inclusive work environments, develop diverse leadership, and implement sustainable practices. Amaik's approach is wholistic, addressing not just the business needs but also the social responsibilities of its clients.

Tara remained steadfast in her vision. She continues to draw inspiration from her Cham heritage, ensuring that the company’s work always reflects the core principles of matriarchy and empowerment.

Through Amaik, Tara has created a lasting impact, ensuring that the values of her ancestors continue to inspire and drive positive change in the modern world.
